| Kyle was raised in one of the backwater regions of the backwater planet Uaestus. At the age of thirteen his father enrolled him in Leke Poching's Cadet Academy in order to give Kyle a chance to escape from the life of poverty that would have been his fate had he remained on his parent's farm. While at the Cadet Academy, Kyle learned many of the same skills he would have learned were he to become a knight had he been born into a noble family instead of one too dirt poor to even see the light of day.
At twenty-two, Kyle graduated from the Cadet Academy after spending the full nine years there. This feat was considered a bit of a rarity as most academy cadets only trained with Leke Poching for five or six years and then set out to seek their fame and fortune as warriors for hire, believing they were more than ready to face the dangers of Uaestus. Yet most of those who left the Cadet Academy before having trained for nine years either ended up dead or in a life of poverty before their twenty-second year. Kyle, on the otherhand, was one of those cadets who listened to Poching whenever he told them that the only sure way for them to have a chance to make it outside the walls of the academy was if they actually completed their training with him. Though in his case Poching wondered whether or not Kyle was ready to graduate as he just barely made it.
Surprisingly, Kyle might have been able to graduate in the middle of his class had he not been intimidated by the prowess of his classmates. While in the academy they had always seemed so sure of themselves and their skills that it scared Kyle whenever he had to spar against them in the ring or compete against them outside of it. He feared, as did Poching, that once he left the academy he wouldn't be able to handle any of the mercinaries and other figures who were to be found in the wilds of Uaestus. Yet he soon learned that Leke Poching had taught him well as he faired better than many of his classmates once outside of the academy.
