| The Leb Cinio Bur Mozak-class Landing Pod is used to land troops on a planet quickly. While shuttles may be a quicker method to get more troops down in one spot, ensuring that they don't land all over the place as individuals or smaller groups, the engineers at Leb Cinio reasoned that troop shuttles presented a greater target that, if destroyed, would wipe out a large number of troops in one blow. The Bur Mozak-class Landing Pod was designed to carry only one soldier and their gear at a time, thus ensuring that if the landing pod is destroyed fewer lives are lost.
To overcome the problem of landing all over the place, the Bur Mozak-class Landing Pod is eqquipped with a rudimentary maneuvering system. While it by no means assures that all the troops launched from a troopship land together, it does promise that they will be less spread out than they would thanks to previous orbital insertion methods. | |
