V-173 Skimmer
The Voum Industries V-173 Skimmer was an attempt by Voum Industries to sell an escort fighter to the Republic so as to protect Republic ships from the threat of pirate attacks. The V-173 first flew four years after the Battle of Naboo, and despite a fair successful marketing campaign that would see numerous Skimmers purchased by various local governments and a few of the major shipping conglomerates, the Republic only purchased a few hundred of the ships, far below Voum Industries expectations. Skimmers would see use in the Jedi Order's stable of starships until the introduction of the Delta-7 Aethersprite became the principal starfighter used by the Jedi.
