Death is Coming!

"It was the freakiest, most disturbing adventure I have ever been on. Ben is a truly disturbed person. Haven't had that much fun playing in quiet a while!"
- Andy Ellefson (Larry Boc)
Larry Boc and Riggs are members of Sector 7-G Authority police and rescue. Their story begins as they receive a distress beacon from a starship light years from any system. They quickly gear up and head out to the distressed ship in their patrol craft. After a short jaunt they come upon a capital-class starship about half the size of an Imperial Star Destroyer. As they survey the damage and situation, they notice that all system lights are down and it is lifelessly drifting through open space. The ship has minor battle scars and one light freighter docked to it. As standard procedure, they hail the dead ship to receive a quick call for help before the line cuts out. The Commander orders the crew to dock and board.
They open the door to the vessel to a dark, musty hallway. Weapons drawn they break into two squads, ignite their glowrods and step aboard. Larry, Riggs, and NPC Jones head to the left while the Commander and two others head to the right. The pilot stays and guards the ship. Larry, Riggs, and Jones cautiously search the dark hallways to find it torn apart with many signs of a scuffle. Soon they discover the armory, where the door appears to have been pried open by some large, strong creature with claws. They search further through the room where it appears a group made a losing effort to make a stronghold. Several bloody footprints, blaster marks, and a severed hand give the characters an uneasy feeling. Suddenly, the Commander pipes up on the comlink, "Get back to the ship...Death is Coming!"

Larry, Riggs, and Jones rushed back to their ship only to find it empty with a hint of smoke in the air. Confused and with no comlink response, they ventured back onto the foreign ship for answers. After a short search, they came upon a dead body leaning against the wall. Jones steps forward to examine it when suddenly a loud "pop" is followed by Jones falling over squealing. Larry and Riggs stand horrified to realize that Jones is now dead shot with a spear constructed of bone. Moreover, the spear shot from the corpse which appears to have been genetically altered as a projectile launching trap triggered by tiny human blood vessels spread across the floor. Quickly, they dart back to their ship for a hasty escape.
Once on their own ship, they jump into the cockpit only to find that all of the controls have been physically ripped out. With no possible way of flying away, they scream in panic. Suddenly it hits them, "The escape pod!" They run to the escape pod and open the door to see a horrific monster standing before them. A six armed, two legged creature that appears to have been assembled from human body parts screeches at them from its head protruding from the center of its body. Before they can act, it pounces on them biting and clawing. After a quick, intense battle, they appear to kill the creature. Quickly they toss the body out of the escape pod and hop in. Not looking forward to a several month jaunt in a tiny escape pod, they hit the launch switch hoping for at least escape from the nightmare they have encountered. Nothing. They hit it again. Nothing. They realize that the escape pod is disabled.

Frightened and not knowing what to do, they remember the other ship docking with the death ship. As a last resort, they venture into the death zone to reach the docked ship. With only minor mishaps, they reach their destination. The floors, however, are covered with an intricate web of human blood vessels. Terrified, they continue to the cockpit, careful not to step on any blood vessel to set off another crazy trap. Unfortunately, it is in the same condition as their ship. A daring check reveals the escape pods in perfect order. Unlucky for them, they were already jettisoned. Out of ideas, they search the ship for bigger weapons or clues. They find a couple of space suits which they quickly put on only to find that the helmets are cracked making a trip into open space a lot shorter. Not knowing what else to do, they take off the helmets (only) and head back onto the dark, deadly ship to meet their doom.

Meanwhile, Scuz and a mean Aqualish are members of a viscous pirate crew roaming through space. When they receive the same distress call as the doomed Sector 7-G Authority police and rescue, the pirates gear up for a looting. They reach the ship to find it drifting through space with the only signs of life being the two ships docked to it which are powered up. Nervous from seeing the Sector Authority ship, they cautiously dock and board the lifeless ship. Again, they split into two teams with some staying and guarding the ship. Scuz and the Aqualish venture down the hallway into the darkness. They come upon a room where there has obviously been a scuffle. Paying little attention for clues, they search for any signs of treasure or anything of value. Suddenly, they notice the flicker of a glowrod in the hallway. Aggressively, they ready their weapons and jump into the hallway to ambush the light. Standing before them is Larry and Riggs still dressed in the space suits. Scuz and the Aqualish begin to interrogate and intimidate the pair trying to find out where their valuables are stored. Larry and Riggs, however, play dumb and say that they are maintenance workers in the engines and know nothing about nothing. After a few hot moments of gun pointing and near death arguments, the pirate captain bursts on the comlink, "Get back to the ship...Death is Here!"

Slightly unnerved, the two pirates continue to forcefully question the two idiots who reveal nothing. After more heated exchanges, the pirates head back to their ship with their captives. On arriving, they discover no signs of life other than a few blaster scores and some splattering of blood. Now rather frustrated and a little frightened, the pirates use a little more force. Larry and Riggs stubbornly continue to play dumb and passively suggest they fly away. As they argue, the Pirate Captain walks in. He has a blank gaze in his eyes and he mechanically enters and heads toward the escape pod. Scuz, being slightly more intelligent and even tempered than the Aqualish, notices his captain's strange behavior. Without a moments notice, he fires at the captain's leg. A direct hit lands the captain on his back on the floor. As everyone backs up in amazement, the captain begins to convulse on the deck.
Instantly, Larry and Riggs hit the deck. As Scuz and the Aqualish begin to follow, the Captain explodes, covering the lot in a fleshy mess. They arise covered in bits of Captain and continue in their argument. Larry soon realizes he was hit in the blast with a bone shard. Being the only calm and semi-rational one, Scuz performs first aid. But when he removes the vacuum suit to attend to the wound, he sees the Sector Authority uniform below. Before Larry could blink, Scuz's blaster barrel is pressed against his brow demanding the truth. With their cover blown, Larry and Riggs spill the beans.

Knowing the full truth, their first reaction is to leave the death trap. Their plans are foiled, however, when they discover the pirate ship control room torn to shreds. Desperate, their only hope is to somehow repower the Capital Ship. So they venture into the doom again, searching for the Engine room. A short, relatively uneventful jaunt leads to a hallway with a 10 meter section of floor missing. The hole is covered in a spider-type web netting. Terrified and determined to pass the obstacle, the crew resorts to climbing through a ventilation shaft along the floorline. In the lead, Larry comes to a small hole peering into the room under the webbing. The room is packed with dozens and dozens of bodies hanging from web cocoons upside-down. The corpses are in various stages of decay and mutilation, except one who is very much alive. Hanging upside-down in a web cocoon, Flex locks eyes with Larry and pleads for help.
Overcome with virtue, the group descends into the room to rescue the stranger. Suddenly, they are attacked by two horrid creatures assembled from the various body parts. Blasters blaze and claws fly and in a few moments, the creatures are dead. As they all collect themselves, they suddenly notice the hanging bodies begin to swing back and forth. With a terrifying howl, they are attacked by a bug-like, eight limbed alien; a deadly Charon. They fire at it in fear as it comes closer. But before they manage to get of a shot, it pulls a web rope and a web net falls on them, capturing all but Larry. Now truly terrified, he flees into the vent shaft.

Luckily, for the group, Larry returns to free his still alive companions after the alien leaves. Out of ideas, the adventurers flee to the Capital Ship cockpit. Surprise surprise, the cockpit is torn to shreds and unsalvageable. They leave the cockpit to discover a web wall blocking the hallway they had just passed through moments before. They dart to the escape pod to the left, only to find the Charon waiting for them. A close, intense battle rages. Their blaster seem to do no damage compared to the severe trashing they receive. In a moment of inspiration, Larry sets his blaster to overload, tosses it into the escape, and jettisons the pod. They all watch in relief as the Charon floats away, then explodes in a brilliant flash of light. Quickly, they jump into another escape pod, fearing more Charon on the ship, and drift away to an uncertain safety.
