Escourt Duty
I set my campaign in the early days of the Empire after Palpatine had declared himself Emperor and was consolidating his power over the Galaxy. Vader and the other Sith Lords are involved in their campaign to exterminate the Jedi. There hasn't been much information published about those days, at least to my knowledge, so I had to wing it.

The PCs are hired by a wealthy businessman to escort a cargo of top-secret experimental equipment to the Tapani Sector.

They board a freighter as part of a heavily armed convoy. The equipment is under heavy guard by battle droids and corporate security teams, making the PCs wonder why they were hired in the first place. The truth is, they are the first line of expendable defense in the unlikely event of a boarding action by pirates or other unsavory types looking to steal the precious cargo.

With the convoy finally underway, the PCs begin to notice peculiar behavior by the ships crew and security toward the cargo they are protecting. One thing they may notice is small air recylers attached to the large crates holding the "equipment". If asked, security will tell them the equipment is sensitive to atmospheric changes and the recyclers are needed to maintain a stable environment to avoid damage.

PCs may also notice small hatches about shoulder height on the crates which seem out of place. The captain of the ship periodically inspects the cargo containers. During these inspections, the PCs are made to leave the cargo area.

One PC will notice food being taken back into the cargo area. If asked, the droid or being taking the food will say it is for the guards. This is odd since the guards take there meals in the galley between shifts.

THE TRUTH: The cargo isn't really equipment. It's passengers. Five Jedi Knights, specifically, on the run from the Sith. They are trying to reach the Tapani Sector where it is said there is a safe haven. The Jedi are trying to assemble there en masse in order to plan and stage a counter offensive against the Sith. The man who hired the PCs is a Jedi sympathizer who has set up sort of an underground railroad for Jedi Knights on the run from the Empire.

THE ENEMY: The convoy is being pursued by a small Imperial fleet under the command of a Sith Lord.

At one point, the Imperials will overtake the convoy and manage to capture the PC's freighter. During the battle, the Jedi will take on and destroy the Sith Lord with the PCs assistance. The PCs should be allowed to escape the battle, perhaps on a stolen shuttle, with at least three of the Jedi if not all.

The Imperials will hire bounty hunters to locate the PCs and the Jedi Knights as they try to make their way to the Tapani Sector. Here is a great chance to bring Darth Vader into the adventure. Vader is dispatched by the Emperor to personally deal with the fleeing Jedi.

The PCs and Jedi should eventually make their way to the Tapani Sector. Vader should be waiting for them much the same as when he was waiting for Han and Leia in The Empire Stikes Back. He has already dealt with the Jedi in the Tapani Sector and is only waiting to spring his trap when the PCs arrive.

Make the battle as epic as possible but, in keeping with the Star Wars story line, Vader should not be killed.
