This adventure is the starting adventure for a group I have running. It will have accompanying adventures to any who wish to play them. They can be used in sequence or as individual adventures. Just remember these are guides to GM-ing, they are not bibles to be followed religiously. This adventure is not based on any in existence and is an original as far as I know. If I am mistaken I would like to apologies to whomsoever had it first. I hope all who play this adventure out have as much fun as I did GM-ing it.
My setting for this adventure was set 80 years into the future of Star Wars from The Return of a Jedi. Before dying, a group of old men, a few of the Empire's loyal citizens feeling that their government should have reigned supreme, strap explosives onto their bodies and make suicide runs into the Senate, and the Jedi Academy, exploding and taking out both buildings completely killing all Senators, and the majority of the Jedi. All the main characters we know and love have either died of old age, such as Han Solo, or were killed in the bombings such as Luke, and Leia. Some of the characters are still around like Chewbacca. When the political powers were destroyed the criminal organizations fought to fill the void of power with their own. Major battles have left these powers like the Black Sun, the Hutts, and the Orion Syndicate devastated. Though it is still rumored that some of the Orion Syndicate are still around, the Organized groups of leaders have vanished for the most part. The planetary systems have turned to self protection. Due to the poor governmental control most of the planets have, they have been attacked mercilessly and pillaged by slavers, pirates, drug runners and other criminal types looking to make an easy profit. Few planets actually manage to hold together. Corellia has it's Militia reborn better than ever and is one of the few solid legal powers left. The Corporate Sector has not changed a bit, in fact getting worse in it's greed and power. The Corporate Sector Patrols have become killers at any provocation. In all this ruination your players are born. Flashy ships, equipment of all sorts, and safety are mere dreams for most of the universes inhabitants.
In the far reaches of space between the main sectors of what was the Empire and the Corporate Sector is a small band of pirates, thieves, and slavers known only as Praelic's Pirates. This crew of space faring thugs has never been caught, though many attempts have been made. The name of this organization has been given from the name of what appears to be the lead ship, Praelic's Passion. Those poor fools that have been caught by the pirates have been slain, sold into slavery, robbed and left adrift in the currents of space, or kept as slaves onboard the ships of these pirates to keep it all running. Not too much is actually know of these pirates. It is all rumors and speculation as to who they are, and what they do. What is known is that there are many of them, they attack in an instant out of no where and they have no mercy. This adventure is best used with a group of 3 to 6 players. This whole adventure is played in space onboard starships or in the asteroid utpost.
After being chased off a planet(your choice) for efarious deeds done the players are flying through hyperspace on their way to/past the Corporate Sector. After a few uneventful hours in the pointlessness of hyperspace the players should be getting bored. Milk this for all it's worth, you really do want the players to be bored. Just as they start to fall asleep the ship is pulled off course and VIOLENTLY ripped out of hyperspace into realspace just outside an asteroid belt and gets pulled towards a rather large asteroid. With such a violent extraction from hyperspace you may want to have the players ship damaged, especially if they have not been keeping up regular maintenance of their ship. Just as the players gain control of their ship they are hit by something and all the instruments go dead(an ion blast strike). Anyone near the lefthand viewports gets a chance to see a group of 5 starships emerge from the asteroid belt. (These ships are modified Ghtroc Freighters: stats to follow at the end.) Give the characters a chance to freak out as the ships slowly come closer and they can't do a dammed thing but sweat.
You can run this one of two ways. Either have a few breaching pods able to hold 5 armed troops, or have two of the Ghtroc Freighters dock with the ship and unload shocktroops. The choice is up to you and both ways prove fun.
I personally went with the breaching pods to start but when the Jedi in the group beat the shocktroops back into their pods and killed a few of them, I had to bring in the ships. You may chose to do the same for alternate reasons.
The shocktroops are armed with decksweapers, light weaponry and wear armour(up to you how effective it is) that covers them from head to toe making who they are indiscernible. The crews for the Ghtroc Freighters are around 15 in total, pilots, command, and shocktroops. After a battle with the intruders the players are taken from their ship in magcuffs or some other dastardly shackling of your choosing. Don't allow the players a chance to check who's inside the armour during the battle. It should come as a major shock that the attackers are Jawas and that will be lost if the get a chance to peek now. If they try, throw more pirates or an explosion into the mix to keep them from finding out who they are inside the armour.
The players are thrown into a brig and left to rot as they are taken to their new lives as slaves on board the Ghtroc Freighters. Eventually the guards leave and it's at this point you allow them to escape and think they have gotten themselves an upper hand. Too bad for them they are left with only their boxers so to speak. Unknown to the pirates (unless the players fuck up and get noticed) the players can search the vessel and take out the small patches of pirates as they come across them at their various stations. In the hold of the vessel is a variation of drugs, weapons, differing styles of currency from credits to gemstones and precious metals, alcohols and other forms of booty of your choosing(depending on your players that could even be porn so long as they enjoy their find). Have them found out before they can take over the whole ship and a red alert go off.
Anyone that bothers to look through a viewport at this time will notice that the ship is landing inside an asteroid. Shocktroops charge into the ship as it lands and opens up the gangplank and the players are taken hostage after as long as battle as you care to make it. Making them feel confident about their abilities may be exactly what they need, get them cocky. After they are captured they are taken in front of Praelic himself(stats to follow at the end). It is at this point only that the players find out the pirate crews are all Jawas, including Praelic himself sitting on his throne. Praelic is not at all happy at the loss of crew and damage to his ships and he plans to take it out of the players hides. Ordering their torture for the sheer pleasure of it, and the stripping of their ship for anything of value, the characters are taken away. Pirate crews leave the asteroid outpost(stats to follow at the end) of Praelic to tow in the players ship and strip it bare after doing the repairs to the engine and de-ionizing the ship.
The players are taken away to torture chambers separated from each other(the forms of torture are yours to toy with: whipping, water torture, pain, mental, poisons etc. have fun with it). This is the players chances to show their individual skills at escape. Each player in their room is expected to escape in any way they can. Supply them with the tools they need to do it if they lack the skills. Either way get at least one of them free and leave them to do the rest. After the players get free of their captors and make a brake for it getting into one of the Ghtroc Freighters, they escape. Give them a real run for their money to escape, and if revenge is their objective throw whatever brick walls in their way you like: repeater blasters, cannons, shocktroops out the ass, take your pick or make something up yourself, they can't get to Praelic.
After escaping the asteroid outpost they get back to their ship finding it de-ionized but not yet powered up. Allow the players to retake their ship with ease, the Jawas onboard are a repair crew, not shocktroops and poorly armed. It only takes the players a moment or two to get the ship powered up and underway again. At this point the players that can't fix anything can take the cargo of the Ghtroc Freighter before leaving however if they opt for this option, throw another attack at them that prevents them from getting the whole cargo load. Allow them some of it if they try but don't remind them of it. Chose how much you really want the players to get away with and what the prize is since it's all in identical cargo crates and requires looking through to know what's inside. Allow them to escape at this point, with a little or a lot of repairs to come(your choice so long as they hyperdrives and navcomps work, they only need to move right now and other repairs can be made into adventures as they need obtain parts along the way. make it hard for them too as things in this day and age are harder to obtain.). Have a few Pirate ships chase after the players for a little while before giving up without catching them just to make them work at their escape. Give them a comms from Praelic, You have made an enemy in me today and the next time we meet you shall not be so lucky. Death comes to those who know my secrets. I shall hunt you to the ends of the Universe.
Hand out the experience and force points, and show the players about some new navmaps in their harddrive due to the pirate repair crews if they haven't noticed themselves. Tools, manifolds and panels are left out all over the ship in one major mess that the players will have to clean up.
