Originally the Ice Storm was going to be a pair of single edged swords on the same hilt with a blaster placed between. It was Amka, one of the chief weapon designers at Thaonk Corporation, who came up with the idea of rather than firing more traditional blaster bolts the Ice Storm should fire bolts of a liquid at extreme sub-artic temperatures. She realized that most people in the glaxy can not withstand such temperatures without the proper survival gear. However, she failed to see a major benifit of such a blaster bolt. That being that even when the bolt missed by a meter or less, the super cooled air around the bolt still inflicts some damage on the target.

• Because the A14-IS is both a melee weapon and a blaster weapon, it actually requires two skills to use, Blaster and Melee Combat.
• When used in melee combat, the A14-IS does STR+2D worth of damage. When used as a blaster it does 7D worth of damage. Even if the blaster bolt misses the target, it still does 2D of damage if the blaster bolt comes within a meter or less of the target (the blaster bolt comes within a meter or less if the blaster roll misses by up to three points).
