| The flail axe was Gaoro Weaponswrights second weapon ever produced, coming fast on the heels of the succesful fan axe. Unlike the fan axe, there was no similar weapon in Avun history for the designers to turn to as a starting point for the flail axe. Some Avun have speculated that this design came from a sadistic desire to inflict as much pain and damage as possible.
The flail axe is composed of three parts, a fan blade axehead (measuring 50 cm. across by 15.24 cm. long), a lenght of chain (half a meter in length) and a handle (measuring 35 cm. in length). The user swings the the handle, almost always allowing both chain and axe to swing over his or her head, in oder to use the weapon. The speed of the axe on impact does as much to inflict damage as the cutting edge does. |
